Tithes (continued)

Let me clarify just a couple of things. First this blog is in conjunction with the previous one on tithes.....Secondly, this blog was really meant on a personal level. I know the basic "give your tithes to the church". That is obvious, I guess my question here is, does this verse apply to me saving my tithes up in the third year or do I continue to give it to the church and let it become their responsibility to do what the bible says about the third year? Lastly, if I do save it up at the end of the year do I have a great feast with everyone mentioned, or give it to the church, fatherless, widow, and stranger? Sorry for the confusion, but I myself am a bit confused. Kristy

Tithes

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, "In what way have we robbed you?" In tithes and offerings.

This verse has been the constant in my mind as I think about tithing. What a statement. It is the same as reaching in God's (our Father) wallet and taking something that belongs to Him. How much more defiant can you be? This basic and simple instruction of tithing has become not so simple anymore. As I have read over and over the verses of tithing the simplicity that I once felt has caught a snare. This will be a very interactive blog. I want to know everyones opinions on the following verse, and please share with me how you handle the situation and your suggestions.

Deuteronomy 14:28-29 (KJV) At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates. And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

(Now in NIV for those who may prefer it) At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns, so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

Please share your thoughts.
